Elisa D’Amico, a partner at the law firm of K&L Gates LLP and a founding member of the firm’s Digital Crisis Planning & Response client solution, is an expert in Cyber Safety and the impacts of internet-based conduct. She is well known for her groundbreaking work co-founding the Cyber Civil Rights Legal Project, a global pro bono project aimed at empowering and helping individuals whose explicit images are distributed and displayed online without consent regain control of their digital footprints and their lives.
In an effort to mitigate negative consequences of digital interactions, Elisa regularly speaks to children and adults about recognizing online risks, developing coping mechanisms and strategies, and maximizing the positive impact of digital interactions in a way that promotes digital wellbeing. She has also developed non-legal programs geared toward raising children’s awareness about using technology in a positive way and becoming conscious digital citizens.
Since 2014, Elisa has been a founding member of the Advisory Board for the Tyler Clementi Institute for CyberSafety at New York Law School and in 2015, she was selected by then California Attorney General Kamala Harris to join her Cyber Exploitation Task Force. She often writes and lectures about social media law, technology and digital wellbeing, and has been consulted by myriad media outlets, including the New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, CNN, MSNBC, Broadly/VICE, The Meredith Vieira Show, Last Week Tonight With John Oliver, Marie Claire, and the Miami Herald. Elisa has a Bachelor of Science in Applied Economics and Management from Cornell University, and a Juris Doctorate from the Fordham University School of Law.
